Channel 4 sent a Racist White Woman in Brownface and a Big Nose to Humanise Muslims

Channel 4 sent a Racist White Woman in Brownface and a Big Nose to Humanise Muslims

Who saw last night’s Channel 4’s ‘My Week as a Muslim’? I have to say I found it quite disturbing and not because it featured a racist but because of the way the programme portrayed the racist. Self confessed Islamophobe and NHS Healthcare Assistant, Katie Freeman traded in her life for a week to spend it with Saima Alvi a teacher and a Muslim. To me that rings alarm bells about the UK psyche. Continue reading “I, Daniel Blake meets haters Camilla Long & Toby Young”

Why that Paralympics trailer dehumanises disabled people

Why that Paralympics trailer dehumanises disabled people

The Paralympics as a sporting event is fantastic in it’s own right, the athletes are clearly talented and have worked hard to get where they are. However the tone of the media surrounding this year’s Paralympics couldn’t be more oppressive, dehumanising and patronising to disabled people.
